My Most Embarrassing Moment as a Color-Blind Person… 😬

I assume that most #colorblind kids have had that #embarrassing moment of #coloring the sky purple and the trees brown, but this was much worse…

I also assume that most teens experienced some #ridicule as did I that their #fashion #color choices weren’t great… But this was worse…

I also can’t forget those times in Chemistry class where I was asked to journal the color a mixture of chemicals was turning… Impossible — but this was worse…

I was working in IT for a large #biotech company as a Project Manager. I needed to send a status report out to all of the key stakeholders. I prepared the report, copied it into an email and pressed “Send”…

I should back up by saying that many corporate constructs such as status reports are very biased towards non-colorblind employees. In most cases, statuses are represented by the colors: Red (Late), Yellow (Potentially Late) or Green (On-Time). I bet you can guess where this is going…

Red (Late), Yellow (Delayed) & Green (On-Time)

So back to my email… After clicking Send on an email going out to 100+ senior stakeholders in the company, I began to receive a flurry of inquisitive emails asking whether the project was indeed Late or On-Time.

Everyone was confused…

Finally, a colleague approached my desk and asked, “Are you aware that you sent out a status report saying the project was ‘On-Time’ in all Red?!?” 🤦🏼‍♂️

These and other embarrassing moments are why I’m thankful for #colorblindglasses like the ones from #pilestone. I’m now able to enjoy a much more #vivid and #colorful world and send status reports with the right colors. 🥳

The world is a much more vivid place with #pilestone glasses. ❤️🎈
