Country #1 on my 2020 World Tour

I’ve now spent almost 3 weeks here in Serbia and my love for this country and the Serbian people increases daily.
You might ask why? The reason is that this country has the perfect mix of nature, city and friendly people. As a solo traveler, I daily meet Serbian people who are eager to talk to foreigners and learn why we’re here, what we like about Serbia and what we plan to do next. I spent one weekend in Novi Sad and was invited into the homes of strangers two nights in a row. We shared several shots (or was it bottles) of Rakija (Serbian brandy) and talked about everything from dating to politics.
So what do I not like about Serbia? Drivers and mosquitos. Drivers here in Serbia don’t like to stay in their lanes. They’re constantly swerving into my lane. One Serbian guy told me it might be that they’re trying to save money on gas… Regardless, you need to be careful when driving here — especially on windy roads.
And the mosquitos… I’m pretty sure, they are the national bird of Serbia. They attack you at restaurants, on hikes and just about anywhere. Don’t be surprised when you see people walking down the street swatting at what appear to be invisible assailants. Trust me… they’re there!
Where are the sugar free drinks?!? I don’t understand why it’s so hard to find sugar free energy drinks. Even Diet Coke can be hard at restaurants and bars. I don’t get it… 🤷♂️

I agree, I couldn’t believe how friendly and kind Serbians were when I went to Belgrade 4 years ago! Young and old, people were so genuinely kind. Such a special place.

I can’t agree more with you! I was invited to one house where they were literally giving the shirts off their backs because people were soaked from the rain. 😂

Your photos are amazing. It’s sad in some way that you cannot appreciate the full majesty of what you’ve captured as the colors are simply amazing. Wow.

Thanks Kurt! As I mention in my blog, I have ordered some corrective glasses. Let’s see if that helps!
