Hiking/Exploring the Uvac Valley in Serbia

Looking out over the Uvac Valley from the Ledeni Pogled Viewpoint

How did I find this place? Many people ask how I find some of the amazing places I’ve visited. Most often I find them on #Instagram. In the case of the #uvacriver, I found it while looking at top posts from #serbia or related hash tags. This windy river instantly made my bucket list.

This was the post from @treasure_of_serbia that inspired me to visit this place. The photographer and girl in the photo (@ladymrva) was nice enough to share the exact location this photo was taken.

Quick Instagram Tip: When you come across a place you want to visit, click the Bookmark button in the bottom right hand corner and create an album for that area. See below one that I made for Serbia. This way, you can reference them later. Sometimes I will contact the poster to see how to get there or ask questions.

Where is it? The river is located in the South West corner of Serbia close to the #Montenegro border. It is a 4.5 hour drive from #Belgrade. Some people might consider this a day trip from Belgrade, but I prefer a good night’s rest (though I don’t require much sleep) at a nearby hotel and a short drive in the morning.

Where did you stay? I stayed at the Vila Angelina hotel in Kusici for $20/night which included a very filling breakfast each morning. The hotel was humble, but I slept well and the owner was very helpful with providing info on where to hike. From the hotel, it was an easy hour drive to the river

Hiking to Molitva View Point – The first day, I hiked to the most common viewpoint which is called #Molitva. Parking is available here. It is about a 3 mile/5km hike to the view point (6 mile/10km roundtrip). The trail is very easy to follow or you can follow my path. This viewpoint was good, but I recommend going to the #LedeniPogled Viewpoint (see below) as it’s a shorter walk and better view.

Walking to Ledeni Pogled Viewpoint – This is really more of a walk than a hike because you can practically drive to the viewpoint. I will say that the road is not well paved and has some big holes, but my small Ford Fiesta made it. You can park here. From the parking spot, it is very easy to find this amazing viewpoint. If you follow a small path to your right, you can find a few additional viewpoints.

Thats it! Feel free to comment if you have any questions or need any additional information or if you think this was a great post! 👊
